In natural selection, the main force responsible is the survival of the fittest in a particular environment. It is very complicated process, and many factors determine the proportion of individuals that will reproduce. Among these factors are differences in mortality of the individuals in the population, especially early in life, differences in the duration of the period of sexual activity, differences in degree of fertility, etc.
Artificial selection is selection practiced by the people. It is defined as the effort of people to increase the frequency of the desirable genes, or combinations of genes, in his herd or flock by locating and saving for breeding purpose. In animal breeding program, artificial selection play role in genetic improvement of livestock.
